Since signing its gaming Compact in 2002, the Seneca Nation has transformed the landscape of Western New York and invested in its territories like never before. In just 20 years, the Nation has made nearly $2 Billion in private investments to build and expand its three world-class casino gaming facilities – Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, NY; Seneca Allegany resort & Casino in Salamanca, NY; and Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino in downtown Buffalo, NY. The casinos attract millions of visitors every year and have created a catalyst for additional investment, growth and excitement in their neighboring communities. All told, the Seneca Nation’s government operations and various business enterprises provide more than 5,000 direct jobs, providing workers the wages and benefits they need to support their families. With more than $250 million in annual spending with more than 4,000 vendors throughout New York and across the country, the Seneca Nation supports thousands of additional jobs, and generating an annual economic impact of more than $1 Billion.
The job-creating investments the Nation has made in building one of the Western New York’s most powerful economic engines has been matched by historic investments in addressing long-standing quality-of-life issues on Seneca Nation territory. Fueled revenue from its gaming enterprises, the Nation has been able provide long-needed services and basic needs, many of which people in other communities take for granted, like adequate housing and home ownership opportunities, proper infrastructure and running water, utilities, and reliable Internet access. In addition, the Nation has built new health centers, improved housing, public safety and community facilities to help close significant socio-economic gaps that have existed for the Seneca people for generations.
